Application Gold Award for Warehouse Management System

(Hong Kong, February 18, 2003) The Warehouse Management System for the Logistics Industry (WMS) developed by e-commerce Logistics Limited (ecL) has won the first place Application Gold Award in the Hong Kong IT Excellence Awards 2002 organized by the Hong Kong Computer Society and sponsored by the Government of HKSAR.

"We are honored to receive the Award, which we regard as a recognition for the roles we play in the development of the region's e-logistics capabilities," said Mr. Simon Hsu, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ecL. The WMS has been instrumental in the success of ecL as a growing provider of 'smart' logistics and supply chain management solutions in Greater China.

The System, developed in-house by ecL, incorporates database management, open Web platform, Palm™, labeling and bar-code reading systems, providing real-time information supporting the "last mile" in the supply chain.

Through the ongoing capture of transaction data, the WMS measures the key performance indicators which support a continuous improvement of operating procedures. The System helps clients to improve fulfillment rates, increase revenue, decrease working capital, lower inventory levels, increase productivity and gain a greater understanding of customer requirements. The WMS can handle "many-to-one" as well as "one-to-many" logistics and it can manage hundreds of thousands of stock keeping units (SKUs) simultaneously.

ecL has started to make the WMS available to other distribution companies, who operate their own warehousing and fulfillment facilities, through partnership agreements. ecL today announced a significant partnership contract with the Huaxin Group, a major retail distribution company based in Guangzhou.

"We are now also looking to make the WMS available to small and medium size enterprises in the Pearl River Delta and specifically Hong Kong, WMS is an ideal system for small and medium sized companies to enter electronic trading and increase their competitiveness, because it provides an information platform to comply with various systems and requirements, including those identified in the Digital Trade Transport Network (DTTN) studies conducted on behalf of the Hong Kong Government," according to Mr. Edmon Fung, Chief Operating Officer of ecL.
